Since July, Marabu has been a member of IPAI, the artificial intelligence innovation center in Heilbronn. IPAI is creating a center for applied AI that is unique in Europe. Backed by the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, and numerous partners from industry and science, the project is a significant undertaking.
For Marabu, using AI strategically in all areas of the company is key to long-term competitiveness. "Marabu pursues a consistent digitalization strategy," explains York Boeder, the company's CEO. "Becoming an IPAI member will enable us to collaborate with regional companies and start-ups to find the right partners in the AI market. We will also benefit from the AI experience of each other."
Leading the way in AI is already our daily business:
IPAI: Working together on responsible and practical AI
Marabu's membership in the IPAI represents another step in the company's AI strategy. The Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI) in Heilbronn is one of the most ambitious AI projects in Europe. While the U.S. focuses primarily on rapid development, the IPAI takes a different approach. The IPAI focuses on application, i.e., how AI can support industry. IPAI's goal is to become a place where companies, research institutions, and start-ups collaborate on responsible, practical AI based on European values, sustainability, and social benefits.
Currently, more than 60 partners are working on practical solutions. Starting in fall 2025, the new IPAI campus will be constructed, featuring real-world laboratories, data centers, and workplaces for over 5,000 individuals. The campus will promote innovation and strengthen dialogue with the public while facilitating access to AI knowledge.
